Apple Appeals EU Fine of 500 Million Euros

Apple is appealing a fine of 500 million euros imposed by the European Commission in April.

The American tech company was fined because it is pushing to offer apps only in its app store. According to the Commission, Apple violates the Digital Markets Act.

“We have filed an appeal today because we believe the European Commission’s decision – and their unprecedented fine – go far beyond what the law requires,” Apple states.

“As our appeal will show, the Commission dictates how we should run our store and enforces business terms that are confusing for developers and bad for users. We have done this to avoid high daily fines and will present the facts to the (EU) court,” the company continues.

Apple announced changes to its app store payment policies in Europe last month.
