Latest Version of Firefox Browser Improves Privacy and Adds AI

Firefox 145 includes measures against so-called ‘fingerprinting’, support for PDFs and, how could it be otherwise this year: a large language model for your address bar.

Mozilla has released Firefox 145, the latest version of its browser. One of the major new features is the ability to read and add notes to PDF files. Users collaborating on a PDF can see in Firefox who made which changes to the text and can add comments. This can be very useful, since many free PDF viewers don’t support this functionality.

Fingerprinting
In addition, security against fingerprinting has been improved. This is a system where companies build a profile of you based on details like your computer system and time zone. This allows them to track you across different sites, even if you don’t allow such cookies or use your browser’s privacy mode.

Mozilla says it has added several layers of security to combat known fingerprinting techniques. Trackers are blocked, but the amount of information the browser provides to websites is also limited. This would mean that the number of users tracked via this technology on Firefox has been halved.
