NATO should actually help the United States acquire Greenland, US President Donald Trump says on Truth Social.
Only the US is capable of defending the area against Russia and China, and that is essential for US security, according to Trump. He calls any other outcome just before the US talks with Greenland and Denmark “unacceptable.”
“The United States needs Greenland for its domestic security. It is essential for the Golden Dome we are working on,” Trump said, referring to the US missile defence system yet to be built. “NATO should be at the forefront of helping us acquire it.”
Trump says that NATO, militarily, without the United States, is not an “effective force or deterrent.” “Not even close! They know that, and I know that.”
NATO will become far more formidable and effective if Greenland is in the hands of the United States. Anything less is unacceptable.
