US President Donald Trump told Fox News that he might be willing to talk to Iran, but that it depends on the conditions.
The US and Iran were negotiating about the country’s nuclear program until the US and Israel launched their attacks on Iran last Saturday.
Trump said he had heard that Iran was very eager to talk. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, however, said early Tuesday morning that this was no longer on the agenda and that Iran would continue with retaliatory strikes “as long as necessary.”
According to Trump, the initial strikes destroyed half of Iran’s missiles. “If we hadn’t done that, it would have been a much tougher fight.”
The president was surprised, however, that Iran subsequently attacked Middle Eastern countries that were not involved in the US and Israeli military action.
