ChatGPT users send over 2.5 billion prompts to the chatbot daily, with 330 million of these entered by Americans.
OpenAI shared the figures with the American news outlet Axios. The company further states that ChatGPT has over 500 million weekly active users, who primarily use the free version.
The numbers illustrate the enormous growth of ChatGPT. In December, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated on X that the chatbot receives approximately one billion prompts per day.
This means that the number of prompts entered daily has more than doubled in just a few months. The number of weekly active users grew at a slower rate: it was already around 300 million in December.
However, Google’s search engine is still used more frequently, processing around 14 billion searches daily.
